Mr. Wilfried Philipp, the founder of TAMPOPRINT ®, literally invented the silicone pad in 1965. Since then, TAMPOPRINT ® has continued to lead the way where pad materials and design are concerned. Look at any pad in the industy today and you will most likely be looking at either an original TAMPOPRINT ® pad, or an imitation.
The Origin of the Term Pad Printing
Go to Google Translation and type in Pad Printing, then translate it from English to German. What you end up with is the German word Tampondruck. Druck means print, and tampon, roughly translated means pad. This fact, along with the longevity of the company is why the term tampo printing is synonymous with pad printing. (Use this newly acquired knowledge to impress your friends!)
