Choosing the Right Pad Printing Ink for Your Application
Choosing the right ink for your application need not be a daunting task. We have a full-service applications laboratory that is available to evaluate and test print on your parts. When our technicians use a standard Tampoprint test image this service is free of charge. If you wish to specify a certain image and / or multiple color samples we will ask you to cover some of the costs incurred in the preparation of those samples. Should you wish to test the inks on your own, we can prepare a set of sample inks and their respective additives for at a reasonable cost to you.
Categories of Pad Printing Ink Color
There are 12 Basic ink shades and 28 Standard ink shades available. In addition there are Special inks, and Custom Color Inks.
- The 12 Basic colors comprise our ink mixing system. This system enables the customer to mix inks according to Pantone Matching System (PMS), RAL, and upon special request, HKS color specifiers. Basic colors are available in ink types HS, N, O, Q, R, B and P. These inks are mono-pigmented, meaning that each shade is colored with a single pigment, rather than multiple pigments, as required for efficient color mixing. Formulas for the respective color specifying systems are available upon request.
- The 28 Standard colors are premixed ink shades which cover a number of applications. Standard ink shades also include the process colors (CMYK) for 4-color printing.
- Special ink types GU, TP-CD, RDF and UV-RDF have a limited number of shades. Call for more information.
- Custom Color Inks are those proprietary color matches that we perform for our customers upon request. There is a charge for initial color matching and approval process.
